BVA Field Service will operate a Convention Claims Office to provide on-site assistance to members with questions. Field Service staff will accept walk-ins during the convention dates of Monday, August 13 through Friday, August 17th. Offsite Trips Offered During the Convention*
Monday, August 13 Noon - 5:00 pm
Board your Motorcoach and travel a short distance to Lake Tahoe, the largest Alpine Lake in North America. Travel through the historic town of Truckee, past Squaw Valley, home to the 1960 winter Olympics. Enjoy a photo stop in Tahoe City, home to Fanny Bridge and the Lake Tahoe visitor center. Travel around the East side of Lake Tahoe with plenty of stops to enjoy this fabulous alpine lake. Box lunches to take with you will be available for $12.00 if you choose.
*Important: The Lake Tahoe, Reno and Virginia City & Carson City Tours require BVA to have at least 35 participants registered 30 days before the tour begins. Please encourage your friends and family to join you on these tours as you complete your official registration form. Without 35 participants, the tours will not be offered to the group.
Wednesday, August 15 7:00 - 10:00 pm
Within a short walking distance of the Nugget Casino Resort is Virginia Square in Sparks, NV - a section of town that offers a variety of restaurants, shopping, a movie theater, brewery and more! Many places to choose from for a dinner out with friends old and new!
Thursday, August 16 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Known as the “Biggest Little City” Reno has the best of both worlds. The history of days gone by, and the newly remodeled downtown area. Your tour begins with a guided tour through Reno. Here you will hear all about the history, view the historic mansions and the panoramic views of the Truckee River, visit Rancho San Rafael Park, home to the Balloon Races, Midtown the new and up and coming district with its fun and interesting shops, boutiques and restaurants. Time will be allowed to enjoy dinner on your own in the many restaurants that are in the downtown area.
Virginia City & Carson City
Friday, August 17 Noon - 4:00 pm
Depart from your hotel in a Deluxe Motorcoach and travel to Virginia City, once a rip roaring Mining Town in 1880. Step back in time as you explore this authentic Gold Mining Town. Visit the Bucket of Blood Saloon, try your luck at the Suicide Table or just stroll the wooden sidewalks as you shop, browse and enjoy a no host lunch. Next, travel to Carson City for a guided driving tour of the state capital and historic mansions. Return to Reno in the afternoon.
