From BVA’s founding in 1945, the Association has been the national voice in advocating on behalf of the needs of blinded veterans. Fulfillment of this mission led to the creation of a network of VA Blind Rehabilitation Centers, the Vision Impairment Service Teams, and the Blind Outpatient Rehabilitation Specialists. All of these programs began and expanded as a result of BVA’s tireless advocacy.
BVA’s Director of Government Relations works closely with members and staff of the U.S. House and Senate, informing them of issues unique to blinded veterans and promoting specific bills that benefit both BVA’s blind and visually impaired constituency and all veterans throughout the country.
