VA Section 508 Advocacy

VetTech promotes and advocates for the accessibility and usability of all Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) informational and electronic communications technologies covered under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 for all BVA stakeholders. We work closely with the VA’s Section 508 and Digital Services team to report concerns from stakeholders, track progress in resolving issues, and test applications and digital content still under development.

Research and Evaluation of AT Solutions and Training Programs

VetTech coordinates and analyzes BVA’s Care Review program and blindness specific AT solutions to ensure B/LV veterans receive the best possible training on impactful prosthetic devices. The Care Review program utilizes an intensive assessment process to understand and evaluate the conditions in which Veterans receive training through inpatient and outpatient VA Blind Rehabilitation Service (BRS) programs. All of VetTech’s evaluations derive from literature reviews. Summary reports are presented to BVA’s Board of Directors, VA BRS leadership, and other stakeholders as requested.
