This week, BVA Executive Director Dr. Vernon Humphrey and Legislative Director Lea Rowe participated in this year’s Meta (formerly Facebook) Connect event by virtue of the Association’s interest in Ray-Ban Meta Glasses that support blind and low vision veterans. BVA is developing a guide to teach veterans how to use AI Glasses to help with daily living and to navigate the world with greater autonomy, confidence, and connection, complementing other skills learned at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Blind Rehabilitation Centers.
Meta Connect is an annual, free, two-day virtual event and developer conference hosted by Meta. While originating in Menlo Park, California, Meta Connect participation is global. The event serves to unveil Meta’s latest innovations in artificial intelligence, metaverse technologies, VR, and smart glasses. Meta Connect serves as a major platform for the corporation to announce new hardware, software, and developments in its vision for the future of information technology and bringing people together.
Vern and Lea participated in the event September 17-18 from Washington, DC, near BVA’s National Headquarters in suburban Alexandria, Virginia. Learn more via Meta’s Wednesday blog post about Meta AI Glasses and BVA’s role in helping blind and low vision veterans use them effectively.
