Former guide dog trainer Tony True of Dogs Inc. will join dog handlers nationwide this Tuesday, October 21, at 4:00pm Eastern Time via Zoom to address dog training, both refresher as well as reinforced training. Tony trained guide dogs for more than ten years at Southeastern Guide Dog School in Palmetto, Florida, but now works with the alumni of Dogs Inc, traveling and conducting site visits to graduates of the school.

Since Dogs Inc. trains service dogs in addition to guide dogs, Tony will share how service dogs are being trained at the school. He will include the revolutionary methods, still in their initial stages, by which service dogs are currently being trained to detect scent. This ability can reveal both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.

An added human interest feature of the Zoom session next week is that Tony and his wife are expecting the arrival of their first child, a baby boy, on the very same day as the meeting. Dog Handler Interest Group Leader Sheldon McKinney has been forewarned that he may need to improvise if Tony abruptly drops from the call to go to the hospital!
