The fifth and now second-to-last session of the Fall Gardening series, organized and led by BVA National Treasurer Monique Statham, will occur this Monday, November 3, via Zoom. The session will announce the winner of the much-heralded scarecrow contest and feature guest speaker Raushanah Echols. She will address the topic of Winter Sowing.
In addition, due to popular demand, Monique has determined to add a previously unscheduled sixth session on November 10 in the same time slot to discuss canning.
Raushanah previews her November 3 visit to the Gardening Interest Group as follows:
I had a yearning to grow my own food beginning in 2019. When we moved to New Jersey in 2022, I said: “It’s time!” I’m a container gardener, and I love the mobility and ease of the containers. Before you openly wonder more about the items harvested, my answer is yes: All my containers are food-grade. I decided that I would grow organically to ensure that my family receives the best of the garden.
For the past three years, I have learned, failed, and chosen to enjoy every moment of gardening, all simultaneously. I invite you to follow me on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@thejerseygrlgardener) as I learn and share with others my personal gardening experiences. I’m looking forward to sharing various aspects of “Winter Sowing” with you on November 3.
Blind and low vision veterans are welcome to join this session even if they have not previously participated. The current series, successfully launched on October 6, addresses general gardening topics relevant to the Fall season. It features open discussions with guest speakers and a scarecrow contest that yielded several amazing submissions this past week!
