Agent Orange Awareness Day, recognized annually on August 10, honors the bravery and sacrifices of those who have been affected by the chemical. The day falls on Sunday this year. It is also an opportunity to educate the public about the ongoing, diverse health challenges faced by these individuals and to advocate for better support and recognition. VA provides compensation for veterans exposed to Agent Orange. These benefits are crucial for supporting the health and well-being of affected veterans.
Because of its link to Diabetes, including Diabetic Retinopathy, many BVA members who served in Vietnam, as well as their families, have been affected by Agent Orange over the years.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) has compiled some of the most extensive and detailed resources about Agent Orange Awareness Day and Agent Orange itself—what it is, it’s origin and history beginning with its first use in Vietnam on August 10, 1961, its toll on Vietnam veterans, and the organization’s In Memory program.
