The Blinded Veterans Association is among 11 organizations recently notified as part of a court order to settle a lawsuit brought against Whiteston Home Furnishings, LLC d/b/a Saatva, a retailer that sells mattresses via its digital properties, located at its website, https://www.saatva.com.
The lawsuit claims that Saatva failed to effectively communicate information on its digital platforms to consumers with a disability and who use screen readers, thereby denying these consumers full and equal access to Saatva’s products and services. Because the settlement seeks to resolve all claims for injunctive relief, the Court ordered the plaintiff, a blind person who uses a screen reader, to contact BVA and request that the organization notify its members of the settlement, asking also that they provide appropriate input.
The class action settlement agreement and other documents and information related to the case, including where to send responses, are available online or via three separate attachments.
