To help prevent improper payments and fraud that can harm veterans, and to help ensure that VA can provide payments on time and without error, VA will no longer permit benefit payments going to more than one bank account after April 20, 2024. G.I. Bill capabilities will be consolidated into a single digital platform, simplifying user processes, and eliminating the need to navigate multiple systems. The change will improve access to benefits, claims processing, and customer service by providing direct, online, one-stop access to G.I. Bill benefits and information.
The G.I. Bill is the last benefit in the Veterans Benefits Administration to transition to CorpDB, the current database system of record. The affected veteran population is approximately 50,000 and VA has already begun the notification process through multiple platforms.
Veterans must take action to consolidate their payment accounts in VA.gov. To do this, visit here. When veterans reach the pay information on the site, there will be a box for the bank account for the other benefit being received. They should update one account or the other so that the bank account information in both boxes is the same.
