Darrel and Cheryl Stoute of Lafayette, Louisiana, anxiously await their holiday gumbo about to be served at the annual December regional group social.

The Louisiana/Mississippi BVA Regional Group, Inc. held its annual holiday social event last Saturday (December 14) at Noah’s Café in Lafayette, Louisiana. More than 30 BVA members and friends enjoyed the hospitality of Noah’s Café—hospitality that included a delicious gumbo, potato salad, and various appetizers and desserts supplied by BVA members.

The group reported an afternoon spent renewing old friendships, creating new ones, and sharing ideas for the next regional group get-together, very possibly a crawfish boil in the spring!

A special thanks is due from the entire group of attendees to Blind Rehabilitation Outpatient Specialist Donna-Sue Sullivan Dugas and Louisiana-Mississippi Secretary Shawntina Gibson for the planning and organization that went into making the activity a success.

“No one realizes how much work goes into planning an event until they really get involved,” reported Donna-Sue.  “The way to reduce the extra work is for everyone to get involved and, as even Santa has his elves to help him, regional groups need their members to become elves and help out.”

The Louisiana/Mississippi Regional Group wishes the subscribers of BVA Happenings a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year.
