The Thanksgiving season means family, friends, and yummy smells coming from the kitchen that can tempt us to “pawtake” in the feasting. Although we are a part of the family, it is important for humans to know that some of the food on the table can be harmful to our bellies and even, in some cases, toxic! Below is a quick list of “paw-approved” foods and foods to avoid during the Thanksgiving holiday and stretching into the other upcoming holidays.

Paw-Approved Foods

  1. Turkey as long as it’s boneless, well-cooked, and unseasoned
  2. Mashed potatoes without butter, milk, or toppings
  3. Fresh or lightly steamed green beans
  4. Pumpkin puree is great for our bellies if it’s unseasoned and cooked

Foods to Avoid

  1. Bones
  2. Onions and garlic
  3. Fatty, greasy, and buttery foods
  4. Stuffing, which contains lots of unsafe ingredients
