Leaders and members of the Louisiana/Mississippi Regional Group have again come through with another flag display donation and dedication, this time at the State Library of Louisiana in downtown Baton Rouge.

“Out of all the donations and dedications we’ve organized, this one was probably our very best ever,” said Joe Burns, longtime BVA member, national officer, and current regional group treasurer. “To have so many there to support our efforts and recognize them—and for the library staff to receive the displays as they did with so much gratitude and respect—it was just an amazing experience.”

The State Library was chosen as the location for the Braille Flag displays as it’s also the home for the Talking Books and Braille Library, Louisiana’s only library dedicated to providing library services for the visually impaired.

On hand to celebrate with the regional group were Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, State Librarian Meg Placke, other local veterans, library leadership and staff, and a half dozen or so media outlets. Read or view a few accounts of this noteworthy event.
