Please place on your calendar the upcoming VetTech Weekly Webinar next Wednesday, September 3, at 3:00pm Eastern Time, when VetTech enthusiasts will welcome Karthik Kannan, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Envision.
Karthik will present the recently marketed Ally Solos Glasees. He uses engineering to turn the latest breakthroughs in the field of computer vision into meaningful applications for people with sight loss. His focus is currently on how to use AI to maximize the capture of information from images—with limited strain on processors. This stems from Envision’s aim to build a range of computer vision applications on low-powered devices, smartglasses, and wearable cameras.
Just two weeks ago (August 14), Envision officially brought Ally, the accessible AI assistant, to Solos AirGo Smartglasses, delivering hands-free independence and connection for people who are blind or have low vision. Ally Solos glasses were co-designed by Solos and Envision for the following:
- Blind and low vision individuals who rely on assistive technology for everyday independence
- Elderly people who wish to read, remember, and navigate with less friction
- People with cognitive disabilities who benefit from simple, spoken interaction
- Caregivers and families of veterans who want their loved ones to have more autonomy
- Anyone overwhelmed by modern devices but curious about what AI can do
The VetTech Weekly Webinars are open to all interested parties although regular attendees are typically blind and low vision veterans and non-veterans, family members, caregivers, or blind rehabilitation specialists. Membership in the Blinded Veterans Association or attendance at previous sessions are not prerequisites to join VetTech meetings and new participants are always welcome.
