VA understands that the caregiver community is vital to the recovery and care of many veterans. Individual caregivers often need the support that is provided by the VA Caregiver Support Program (CSP) in the form of clinical, educational, and wraparound services (a holistic and client-centered approach to providing support that addresses the comprehensive needs of individuals and families) to individuals and who care for veterans enrolled in VA health care.
The Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS) is one of two programs under CPS. PGCS, the simpler of the two programs, offers services such as skills training, coaching, telephone support, and online programs to caregivers of all eras enrolled in VA.
An application is not required to participate in PGCSS. To enroll, caregivers should reach out to a member of their local VA facility’s CSP team. Contact information can be found using CSP’s Locator Tool. Additional information can also be located on the VA website’s Caregiver Page or a toll-free VA Caregiver Support Line at 1-855-260-3274.
