Don’t forget to follow a livestream of Paul Mimms’ presentation of BVA’s legislative priorities at a joint session of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans Affairs tomorrow, March 6, beginning at 10:00am Eastern Time. The hearing will originate from the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The session is open to the public for in-person attendance and will also be carried via livestream video.
At the time of this reminder notice, the optimal means for connecting to the webcast is through the House Committee site here or YouTube here.
The annual hearing will be conducted in panel format with nine other Veterans Service Organizations seated with BVA at a witness table following testimony of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The BVA presentation, part of the second panel, will occur well into the hearing’s scheduled start time.
The exclusive right to represent blinded veterans and their families annually before the legislative branch of government is rooted in the organization’s Congressional charter, issued to BVA in 1958.
Following the hearing, join BVA’s VetTech team at 2:00pm Eastern Time for the Weekly Wednesday Webinar featuring OrCam. The session will offer details related to the power of the MyEye Pro and MyEye Read in Optical Character Recognition accuracy and responsiveness.
On Thursday, March 7, also at 2:00pm, VetTech Talk will continue the conversation initiated by the OrCam discussion the previous day. As always, the goal of the VetTech talk sessions is to leverage the collective knowledge and expertise of the blind and low vision in an effort to help one another integrate assistive technology into daily activities.
