The work of the Office of Women’s Health of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) reflects the growth in the number of women who have served in the military and are subsequently eligible for VA benefits. Today, women make up 17.5 percent of the veterans who have served on active duty, while 21.6 percent of the veterans who have served in the National Guard/Reserves are women. The total number of women veteran VHA users nationwide has now climbed to nearly 700,000.
VHA’s Office of Women’s Health strives to be a national leader in the provision of health care for women veterans, thereby raising the standard of care for all women. It serves as a trusted resource for the field and works to ensure that women veterans experience timely, high-quality, comprehensive care in a sensitive and safe environment at all points of care. Every VA Medical Center has a Women Veterans Program Manager.
