Blind and low vision veterans seeking an unforgettable winter adventure in the tops of the Rocky Mountains should prepare their applications for the 39th Annual VA National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic (WSC) March 30-April 5, 2025, at Snowmass Village, Colorado. Last year, more than 400 disabled veterans participated, including 80 blind and low vision veterans. Although the application deadline is listed as November 30, 2024, prospective applicants are urged to submit their applications early due to extremely heavy demand for admission and the extensive process involved in applying.
Whether veterans are seasoned skiers or have never hit the slopes before, there is something for everyone. Downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing are the popular winter activities, but the Clinic also offers exciting activities like fly fishing, scuba diving, curling, and yoga. The
WSC is an opportunity to explore new sports interests and make lasting memories.
All meals during the event are provided. Transportation and housing subsidies may be available through your Visual Impairment Services Team (VIST) Coordinator or the Challenged Athletes Foundation. If standing for long periods is a concern, skiing in a chair ski or using a mono-ski or a bi-ski are likely possibilities.
For additional information prior to applying, visit the WSC website, or contact the VIST Coordinator or Outdoor Recreation Therapist at your local VA facility. Additionally, you can send an email to TeamBVA@BVA.org.
