Three smaller Fredericksburg, Virginia area Outpatient Clinics have now been replaced by a new 470,000 square-foot VA Health Care Center. Officials of the grand opening celebration, held earlier today, had invited members of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Group to attend. Many blind and low vision veterans who have previously been served by the clinics or the main medical center in Richmond were expected to attend.
The new facility will provide veterans of the Fredericksburg and Northern Virginia area with high-quality health care services. While the structure is not a hospital by definition (no inpatient services or emergency room), it will house many of the same high-quality outpatient services offered at the medical center.
Services include laboratory work, radiology, primary care mental health (substance abuse disorder, individual and group treatment options), Whole Health, telehealth, audiology, dental, optometry, prosthetics, physical medicine and rehab (physical therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, kinesiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy).
Medical and surgical specialties offered are Ear, Nose, and Throat; cardiology, neurology, pulmonary, dermatology, gastroenterology, and infusion/oncology.
Additional administrative service to be available at the Center include enrollment and eligibility, release of information authorization, limited compensation and pension evaluations, VA Voluntary Services, and local VSO offices/representatives.
