In only 11 days, BVA will join the global Giving Tuesday movement. The popularity of this movement has inspired millions of people worldwide to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity as the holiday season approaches. Please consider donating today or on December 2 by clicking the button below. Your support provides a renewed sense of independence to blind and low vision veterans.
Prior to Veterans Day, BVA Happenings shared a message from BVA member Jill Hinton Wolfe. Jill related what Veterans Day means to her, the importance of community, and life after blindness. When she was diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease, her world changed overnight. She describes it as follows:
“In those early days, I felt unmoored. My identity as a veteran, as a professional, as a mother, all felt uncertain.”
Jill’s story once again reminds us of how important community and camaraderie can be when life takes an unexpected turn and leaves us feeling alone. Again, in her words:
“Your gift to BVA ensures that when the next veteran faces sight loss, they won’t face it alone. They’ll find the same community I did—the mentors who remind them of their strength, the programs that help them rebuild independence, and the unwavering message that life after blindness can still be filled with vision.”
