My name is Shadow, and I currently guide BVA National President Paul Mimms. As my first task, I would like to recognize dogs everywhere during August, National Dog Month. Founded in 2020 by National Day Calendar® and Milk-Bone®, this month celebrates loveable canine companions in the middle of the dog days of summer. Honor your best pal by taking an extra-long walk, playing fetch, or providing a healthy treat. 

Over the next month I will share some of my performed duties as the official guide dog of the BVA National President. Those duties in 2024 have included presenting the Association’s legislative priorities in a joint session of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans Affairs, our granted right as a Congressionally chartered Veteran Service Organization, and a well-deserved blueberry facial and grooming that followed. 

Although my priority is to serve my dad, I also feel a responsibility as the President’s guide dog to set a positive example to the Ambassadog community. I will be back next week to share more of my adventures.
