Annie Dixon has been named the new Interim Director of District 2. She has become an active member of BVA in 2024 but has volunteered with the VA Center for Development and Civic Engagement (formerly VA Voluntary Services) since 2015. In that capacity, Annie assisted with individual and group activities to help blind and low vision veterans regain their independence and quality of life, enabling their successful integration into family and community life.
Annie is currently working with Team River Runner, an organization emphasizing adaptive paddle sports. This activity was established to allow wounded, blind, visually impaired, low vision, and otherwise disabled veterans the opportunity to embrace new physical challenges while invoking mind stimulation.
Annie served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, and the Arkansas National Guard. She trained in the Signal Corps and transferred to Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Fort Hood, Texas; and Fairbanks, Alaska. She retired after 25 years of service. She later worked in various leadership positions with the State of Arkansas, retiring from those posts after ten years.
Annie holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management of Technology from Athens State University in 1993. She earned a Master of Science in Industrial Technology from Alabama A&M University in 1995. She is currently enrolled in post-graduate studies.
