On March 6, VA announced the deployment of the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) system at nine additional medical facilities in 2026 but indicated that the announcement of the locations would be delayed until later this year. Less than four weeks later, the sites were presented as follows on March 31 with four of the nine to be deployed within the state of Ohio and three in Indiana.  The nine are: Fort Thomas, Kentucky; Cincinnati, Ohio, Chillicothe, Ohio; Dayton, Ohio; Cleveland, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Marion, Indiana; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Anchorage, Alaska.

A previous announcement in December 2024 revealed four site deployments that would go live in 2026, all in the state of Michigan: the VA Battle Creek Medical Center, the VA Detroit Healthcare System, the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System; and the VA Saginaw Healthcare System.

Complete deployment of EHR at all VA medical facilities is projected for as early as 2031. With the current focus on Ohio and Indiana, VA is pursuing a market-based approach to site selection for its deployments moving forward. This approach will enable the Department to scale up the number of concurrent deployments while also enabling staff to work as efficiently as possible.
