BVA National President Paul Mimms will present the Association’s legislative priorities for the current fiscal year in a joint session of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans Affairs on Wednesday, March 6. The BVA Government Relations Team is currently putting together a full written document from which Paul will likely draw many of his oral remarks.

The annual hearing, convening at 10:00am Eastern Time in Room SD-G50 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building adjacent to the U.S. Capitol, will be conducted in panel format with nine other Veterans Service Organizations seated together with BVA, including Paralyzed Veterans of America, Wounded Warrior Project, National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs, Mission Roll Call, Blue Star Families, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Service Women’s Action Network, Student Veterans of America, and AMVETS.

The session is open to the public and BVA members, their families, and caregivers are invited to attend personally or follow the proceedings virtually via video live stream. The appropriate link is not yet available but will be provided in future issues of BVA Happenings

BVA was originally chartered by Congress in 1958 to be the official voice for blinded veterans before the legislative branch of the federal government. The charter thereby allows BVA the privilege of presenting testimony annually and when issues relevant to the Association arise.
