Join VetTech this Wednesday, April 19, at 2:00pm Eastern Time as we welcome Jenine Stanley, Explorer Community Manager at Aira Tech Corporation. Aira removes barriers and makes the world more accessible with visual interpreting. The company promotes the premise that whatever the need and whatever the reason, an Aira agent can provide access anytime, anywhere.

Do not miss this VetTech session! Participants will learn:

  • What Aira is.
  • How to connect with Aira from a variety of devices.
  • Common uses of Aira services
  • Availability of Aira subscriptions.

On Thursday, April 20, at the same 2:00pm hour, VetTech Talk will discuss Orientation and Mobility aids. Blind and low vision individuals are presented with a vast array of long canes, support canes, sensors, GPS devices, and recognition solutions that enhance their ability to travel safely and independently. Join this conversation and share your personal experiences and the solutions you have discovered while traversing your world.

This past week, BVA’s VetTech team focused on successful navigation of federal government websites, including login.gov to access their sign-in portals. The discussion centered on solutions to overcome the barriers that face blind and low vision users. The more informal VetTech Talk, held the following day, highlighted the increased flexibility and simplicity of login.gov that has resulted from the development of mobile apps and the growing number of MacOS users.

All VetTech webinars and talk sessions are open to everyone—blind and low vision veterans, family members, caregivers, blind rehabilitation specialists, and all other parties interested in assistive, adaptive, and accessible technology that can empower independence.

Can’t make it to a live session? No problem! VetTech is now available as a podcast on major platforms. Interested parties can listen on demand to missed Weekly Wednesday Webinars as well as original content published solely on the podcast by asking their smart speaker, Siri or Alexa, to “play the latest episode of the Blinded Veterans Association VetTech podcast.” They can also follow the channel through Apple Podcast, Google Play, and Amazon Music.
