The Annual Benefits Report of the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), updated last month, summarizes the benefit programs delivered by VBA during the past fiscal year (2022), identifying the current level of program participation and profiling the beneficiaries.

The report is intended to 1) present a clear and data-driven picture of how veterans and their dependents use these benefits, and 2) provide insights into the nature of the benefit programs. Highlights of the benefits provided to veterans in FY 2022 include the following:

  • $120.7 billion paid to 5.9 million recipients
  • $256.6 billion guaranteed in 746,091 home loans
  • $3.6 billion paid to 299,709 Pension beneficiaries
  • $1.5 billion in veteran readiness and employment to 124,437 participants
  • $9.9 billion paid for 834,460 student recipients
  • 68,847 outreach events with 285,927 attendees

VA Veterans Service Organization (VSO) Liaison Martin Caraway addressed the value of VBA’s VSO partners. “It is your partnership that makes the service to these veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors possible,” he said.
