Recognizing the connection between financial stability and mental well-being, VA recently launched the National Veterans Financial Resource Center (FINVET), a comprehensive online repository created with support from the VA Office of Suicide Prevention. FINVET helps mitigate suicide risk by connecting veterans to trustworthy financial tools and advice, information, videos, calculators, and worksheets.
Following military service, most veterans are motivated to work toward financial success. Because they are relocated throughout the country, however, locating the needed financial tools can pose a challenge.
FINVET steps in as a one-stop website, making it easier for veterans to find ways to pay for essentials such as housing, food, car, and clothes; to save money through budgeting, discounts, and refraining from impulse buying; to increase income through work, investments, education, and utilization of veterans benefits; to manage debt by building credit and addressing medical, legal, and utility bills; and to protect money by avoiding scams, using safe banks, and planning for the future.
