BVA’s Women Veterans Group was created to serve, support, and promote camaraderie among blinded and now low vision women veterans through awareness and advocacy efforts affecting their health and welfare.
The group’s leadership committee meets every fourth Wednesday of the month while the general membership virtual meeting occurs the day following, usually the fourth Thursday and on rare occasions the fifth Thursday. The virtual meetings via Zoom begin at 6:00pm Eastern Time.
The next general meeting to which all women veterans are invited and encouraged to attend is scheduled for next Thursday, May 25, with the group welcoming Nico Marcolongo, Senior Manager of Challenged Athletes Foundation’s (CAF) Operation Rebound initiative. Nico joined CAF in the spring of 2008 after 14 years of service as a U.S. Marine Corps Officer. He is a veteran of the Iraq conflict and has been supporting injured veterans and first responders since 2003. Joining Nico in his presentation will be Shawntina Gibson, who recently participated in her first CAF triathlon in San Diego, California.
