Multiple Veterans Service Organizations, including BVA, joined together this week to call on Congress to pass supplemental legislation before September 20 in what is expected to be a government budget stopgap continuing resolution.

Besides a $3 billion shortfall for the remainder of the year, VA officials have confirmed that they are asking Congress to include, in the same bill, an additional $12 billion for the Department’s 2025 medical budget. The measure must be passed by the end of the month to ensure that veterans receive the necessary compensation and that wait times and staffing levels are not compromised.

The appeal for legislative action was directed in a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-4), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY-8), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
