The National Board of Directors of the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) has scheduled a final virtual townhall to review refinements to the revised national bylaws based on member input during the three sessions held last week.

Please plan to attend the August 4 meeting via Zoom at 2:00pm Eastern Time. The townhall will be limited to a single meeting to include blinded veterans from all four districts nationally.

“We are pleased to report that our previous townhalls were most productive and successful, and we have listened to the feedback of our BVA members,” said Executive Director Donald D. Overton, Jr. “We have implemented many of the suggested revisions to the document we previously presented with the hope to now get together one more time to address questions and gather final input prior to presenting the document for a vote at the national convention.”

The original need for the new document resulted from assessments and feedback of BVA’s national and regional group leadership that the bylaws, as recently constituted, are out-of-date and contain a number of inconsistencies and structural variances scattered throughout.

Unlike the isolated amendments that have traditionally been considered, voted on, and adopted or rejected at each BVA national convention, a revision is a substitution resulting in an entirely new document. The advantage of this revision is that it has permitted conflicting language to be resolved with the creation of a single, unified document.

To prepare for the August 4 session, BVA members can review the most recent version of the document on the BVA website in both Microsoft Word and as a PDF click here.

Information on how to join the meeting is provided below. Participants may join using a personal computer, laptop, mobile device, or landline telephone.
