Blinded veterans, their families, and other friends of the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) who are interested in attending the organization’s 77th National Convention August 22-26 (Monday-Friday) have just a few more days to register and make reservations at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

Prospective attendees may complete their convention registration online here (CLICK here) or by calling Meredith at BVA National Headquarters at 202-371-8880, Ext. 304. Hotel reservations can be secured by using the convention room booking link here (CLICK HERE) or by calling 800-233-1234 with the room block code “G-BVET” in the process. The room block rate is available August 21-27, 2022.

Although the official deadline for both general convention registration and hotel reservations remains Thursday, July 28, BVA National Headquarters encourages guests to complete the registration process as soon as possible, preferably by Sunday, July 24, so that planning and logistical arrangements can be carried out with maximum accuracy and efficiency.

BVA members and their families previously registered are also encouraged to register online with the same urgency for individual offsite activities throughout the week. They can pick and choose from the various activities available, including a unique post-convention kayaking event on Saturday, August 27.

Other activities include a Monday Arlington area tour, a National Mall Monuments tour on Tuesday, an evening Dine Around near the convention hotel on Wednesday, and a bowling and dinner activity on Thursday. Please register for the individual offsite activities as soon as possible here (CLICK HERE). Sign-ups for the Dine Around restaurants will occur at the in-person registration at the hotel August 21-22.

Although a nominal $5 per person fee will be charged for each of the activities, convention attendees will not pay the fees until they personally arrive at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. No payments are requested or required at this time. The purpose of the individual registrations for these events a few weeks in advance is to provide BVA with urgently needed headcounts to determine transportation needs and special accommodations such as wheelchairs and wheelchair lifts.

Regional groups submitting credentials forms to be seated at the convention and BVA members voting by proxy must send the relevant documents by Tuesday, August 2, to Brigitte via email, bjones@bva.org, or postmark a regular mailing by the same date. This date is 21 days prior to the opening of the convention as directed by the Association’s National Bylaws.
