Members of the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) are invited and encouraged to attend one of three scheduled townhall meetings next week to learn more about and discuss a proposed comprehensive revision of the national bylaws.

The need for such a revision originates from observations of BVA’s national and regional group leadership that the document contains many inconsistencies and structural variances scattered throughout.

Unlike the isolated amendments that have traditionally been considered, voted on, and adopted or rejected at each BVA national convention, a revision is a substitution resulting in an entirely new document. The advantage of a revision is that it permits conflicting language to be resolved and the creation of a single, unified document. BVA members can review the proposed revised document in Microsoft Word (HERE) and as a PDF (HERE).

The virtual townhalls will be accessible via the Zoom platform at 2:00pm Eastern Daylight Time on all three days—Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Information on how to join the meetings, all using the same weblink, meeting ID, and passcode, is provided below. Participants may join using a personal computer, laptop, mobile device, or landline telephone.

To equally balance the number of participants for each of the three days, BVA members who have most recently been residing in Districts 1, 3, or 5 should participate in the July 12 townhall. Members recently belonging to Districts 2, 4, or 6 should attend on July 13. The final townhall on July 14 (Thursday) will serve as a make-up session for blinded veterans from any district who were not able to attend either of the two earlier sessions.
