As a guide dog, I play a critical role in providing increased independence, enhanced mobility, and reliable navigation. Dad and I have traveled to Cancún four times, each time visiting our timeshare. Early on, I learned the routes to dining facilities and various places on the resort campus. This preparation has helped us reach our destinations much more quickly, conveniently, and safely. My favorite thing to do in Cancún is bask in the sun on the balcony of our condominium. I am even permitted to visit the beach since I am a guide dog. I have a habit of shaking my head and body, and it is just plain fun to shake off the sand I pick up on the beach.
Since becoming a team, Dad and I have been to several BVA, ACB (American Council of the Blind), and VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) conventions and other events around the country. I have visited 15 different states that I can remember. When traveling on a plane, I love to prance down the aisle and dive into the seat I choose and make dad go there with me. Dad and I are pals and, although I am technically working when traveling, we provide companionship to each other every day. I can’t wait to make more memories with him!
