Next Friday, March 29, is the seventh anniversary of the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017, signed into law by President Donald Trump. The recent legislation designates each March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. To our BVA members who served during the Vietnam War era, the National Board of Directors and National Headquarters express sincere gratitude for your willingness to serve and the sacrifice that service has entailed. As the timeless salute goes to all who returned from the Vietnam War, Welcome Home!

National Vietnam War Veterans Day joins six other military-centric annual observances codified in Title 4 of the United States Code, Section 6. They are: Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, Navy Day, and Veterans Day.

March 29 was chosen to be observed in perpetuity since March 29, 1973, was the day that the United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, was disestablished and the day the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam. On and around this same day, Hanoi released the last of its acknowledged Prisoners of War.
