Blinded Veterans Association members, their families, and their regional groups nationwide are encouraged to participate in a variety of local events and activities next week leading up to and including the November 11 Veterans Day holiday, which falls this year on a Saturday.

The Association’s National Headquarters will participate in the 70th annual National Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery honoring the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces during war and peacetime. The ceremony, held inside the Cemetery’s Memorial Amphitheater, will feature a prelude and other patriotic numbers by the United States Air Force Band and U.S. Air Force Chanters.

As a charter member of the Veterans Day National Committee, one BVA representative is invited to take part in a Presidential wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier conducted by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, a Parade of Colors inside the Amphitheater, and an organizational wreath laying at the Tomb following the ceremony. Also highlighting the observance will be remarks from dignitaries representing the host Veterans Service Organization, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Executive Branch.

Please share your personal accounts and impressions of next week’s Veterans Day activities with other BVA members and their families in future issues of BVA Happenings by emailing info@bva.org, or by calling 202-371-8882.
