Increasing awareness of the Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM) is the focus of a new campaign of the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) during the month of November.

The campaign, entitled “Find a Veteran, Post a Tribute,” encourages visitors to the VLM website to locate a veteran on the site who has been buried in a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) national cemetery and to post a tribute on a page that has been created for that veteran.

VLM now allows family, friends, and others to post tributes to a veteran’s page and to share the pages using email, Facebook, and Twitter. With the theme that no veteran is ever forgotten, the VLM digital platform was launched in 2019 with information gathered from VA records about veterans’ service.

The VLM website allows visitors to “find a veteran” using a search box and entering the veteran’s first and last name or an advanced search option using middle name and service branch to bring up a veteran’s page. Each page displays publicly available information gathered from VA records, including service branch with logo, dates of birth and death, rank, war period, highest decoration, emblem of belief, and grave location.
