The Million Veteran Program (MVP) of VA is now one million veterans strong, marking a historic milestone in November 2023 during a journey that was several years in the making. Hitting the plateau of a million will have a profound impact on veterans’ health care in the future, both today and for generations to come, as VA conducts lifesaving, groundbreaking research based on data already collected from enrollees. The initiative now reads, however, that reaching a million was only the beginning.

BVA National Headquarters thanks members of the BVA community who were open to learning more about MVP and eventually joining the program using one of a variety of opportunities that included the last two BVA national conventions,

“Thanks to the efforts of organizations like BVA, MVP’s message continues to reach a wider veteran audience, allowing us to create an impact through VA research,” said Yanire Camacho, MVP Community Outreach Lead.  “With your continued support, MVP is the largest research program at the VA and the world’s largest and most diverse genetic research program within a health care system!”

During Black History in February, VA highlighted MVP for having gathered the largest group of people with African ancestry of any research program of its kind in the world. The video here focuses on how veterans from diverse backgrounds shape MVP’s research. A second video here spotlights the power of health research.
