Please act immediately to participate in the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic scheduled for April 1-7, 2024 in Snowmass, Colorado! Learn more through your Visual Impairment Services Team Coordinator and apply online here by November 1, 2023.

The world-class event, co-hosted by VA and Disabled American Veterans, is also supported by a host of private sector sponsors. Registration includes lodging, meals, and a variety of sports and recreation activities such as those enumerated below. Because a doctor must fill out a portion of the application and because demand for participation is so competitive and sought after, the importance of beginning the application process cannot be overemphasized.

Are you worried you can’t ski? They will teach you! VA provides instructors and guides for the visually impaired.

Is walking hard for you? They have chair skis on which you can traverse the snow.

Alpine skiing and cross-country skiing are not the only activities. Scuba diving lessons are offered in a pool. Additional activities include sled hockey, rock wall climbing, fly fishing, curling, and snowmobiling.

In recent years, some 80 or more visually impaired veterans have been attending.

“Challenged Athletes Foundation can assist you with travel for this event,” said BVA Director of Member Relations Teresa Galgano. “If you have not yet been, I encourage you to try something different this year!”
