Join VetTech this Wednesday, April 12, at 2:00pm Eastern Time as we welcome Liz Whitaker, Product Manager for User Education and Research at Vispero. Whether you are checking on your Social Security Administration claim or trying to access your Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health information, federal websites have adopted the public’s one account for government, login.gov in securing their sign-in portals. Liz and the VetTech team will explore these portals and discuss solutions to overcome common barriers.

Do not miss this VetTech session! Participants will learn:

  • Important Fusion and JAWS tools to navigate websites.
  • How to successfully access login.gov.
  • Troubleshooting tips and tricks.

On Thursday, April 13, at the same 2:00pm hour Eastern Time, VetTech Talk will return to the topic of login.gov. The development of mobile apps and the growing number of MacOS users has resulted in flexibility in accessing federal agencies using a variety of solutions. Participants will discuss in an open and informal forum the barriers and the successes they have encountered as they have used login.gov. VetTech Talk occurs every Thursday at the same 2:00pm starting time using the identical Zoom link.

This past week, BVA’s VetTech team focused on OrCam’s dynamic customer support team during the Weekly Wednesday Webinar, explaining the Artificial Intelligence capabilities offered by the OrCam Read and the OrCam MyEye Pro and how an individual with vision loss can take advantage of such capabilities. OrCam’s Joshua Rivera and Corinne Nero provided the contact information for the company’s customer support desk and additional troubleshooting techniques and resources.  The Thursday VetTech Talk session covered the practical uses of iPhones and iPads, exploring participants’ favorite iOS apps and how they can be used to perform important daily tasks.

All VetTech webinars and talk sessions are open to everyone—blind and low vision veterans, family members, caregivers, blind rehabilitation specialists, and all other parties interested in assistive, adaptive, and accessible technology that can empower independence.

Can’t make it to a live session? No problem! VetTech is now available as a podcast on major platforms. Interested parties can listen on demand to missed Weekly Wednesday Webinars as well as original content published solely on the podcast by asking their smart speaker, Siri or Alexa, to “play the latest episode of the Blinded Veterans Association VetTech podcast.” They can also follow the channel currently through Apple Podcast, Google Play, and Amazon Music.
