It may be Halloween and the end of October but BVA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Group is currently collaborating with the Washington DC VA Medical Center’s Vision Impairment Services Outpatient Rehabilitation (VISOR) Clinic in the planning of an all-day October 31 event that promotes awareness of the White Cane and care of our nation’s blind and low vision veterans.

Potential attendees of the event are beckoned with the following: “Join Us in the Journey toward a Brighter Future—Where Vision Knows No Bounds.” Also collaborating with the VISOR Clinic and the Veterans Benefits Association is the Vision Center of Excellence, Suicide Prevention, and Chaplain Services.

The event kicks off at 9:00am with a White Cane Walk at the medical center entrance. It will also include the debut of a national VA video entitled “Beyond the Uniform” at 11:00am. The video features a local veteran from the National Capital Region.

Lunch will be provided for those who register in advance, followed by a presentation on Compensation and Pension and later an opportunity to meet for a benefits review with a Veterans Benefits Claims Officer.

To register for the VISOR celebration, call 202-745-8000, Ext 58311. To view an informational flyer about the event, click here.
