Key accessibility features for blind and visually impaired users are now part of Home Box Office’s massive streaming service HBO Max, helping the users enjoy the same content as sighted viewers.

The new service offers audio descriptions for content, which describes action on the screen beyond the dialog and sound effects, for some 1,500 hours of third-party content, HBO originals, HBO Max Originals, and Warner Brothers movies.

Several other changes are also intended to improve accessibility, including a prominently featured Audio Description category in the navigation menu so that blind and visually impaired users can rapidly access the media. The service also offers help to customers who have disabilities as they attempt to utilize the accessibility features. Both the HBO Max mobile app and the website have improved accessibility that also enables them to work better than ever before with screen reading software.

HBO Max will double the audio description content by March 2022 and by 6,000 hours or more by March 2023. For additional information regarding these improvements and how to take advantage of their availability, (CLICK HERE).
