Join BVA’s VetTech Team this Wednesday, July 5, at 2:00pm Eastern Time as the Weekly Wednesday Webinar welcomes Michelle Mendez, National Sales Director for OrCam. Session participants will meet the coast-to-coast team of OrCam regional sales managers, who assist the blind and low vision in maximizing the capabilities of the MyEye Pro and MyEye Read. The company’s sales team provides prompt and courteous troubleshooting responses as follow-up action to in-person training sessions.

Do not miss this VetTech session! Participants will receive:

  • An overview of the OrCam MyEye Pro.
  • An overview of the MyEye Read.
  • A detailed introduction of OrCam’s stellar regional sales managers.

In a more informal setting and exchange than the Weekly Wednesday Webinars, join VetTech Talk on Thursday, July 6, at the same 2:00pm Eastern Time timeslot to learn about iOS VoiceOver’s integrated recognition features. These features allow VoiceOver to recognize images, screens, and much more, thus simplifying how blind and low vision users can overcome access barriers. Apple has steadily improved these features, making a significant impact on the accessibility of apps and other digital content.

This past week, VetTech’s webinar highlighted the importance of the goals on which the Department of Veterans Affairs Blind Rehabilitation Service bases its decisions relating to prosthetic training and issuance requests. A “SMART” goal in this context is one that is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timebound. Knowing how to convey a SMART goal is the key to a successful request outcome. The Thursday VetTech session continued recent conversations relating to PDFs, specifically reviewing and filling out PDFs on a MacOS.

All VetTech webinars and talk sessions are currently open to everyone—blind and low vision veterans and nonveterans, family members, caregivers, blind rehabilitation specialists, and all other parties interested in assistive, adaptive, and accessible technology that can result in greater independence. Membership in BVA or attendance at previous sessions is not a pre-requisite to join VetTech or VetTech Talk sessions.

Did you miss the most recent session due to a conflicting commitment? No problem! VetTech is now available as a podcast on major platforms. Interested parties can listen on demand to missed Weekly Wednesday Webinars as well as original content published solely on the podcast by asking their Smart speaker, Siri or Alexa, to “play the latest episode of the Blinded Veterans Association VetTech Podcast.” They can also follow the channel via Apple Podcast, Google Play, and Amazon Music.
